Mom

This is a blog about my mother- Grace Tilton Blake. She died when I was 22, five years after my father died and just weeks after her 56th birthday.  I've lived without my parents for virtually my entire adult life, I hate it.  George Eliot wrote: "Our dead are never dead to us until we have forgotten them".  It's a lovely sentiment, but it's also a load of crap. Trust me, they are gone.  I miss her all the time.

She wasn't warm and fuzzy- she didn't braid my hair and make cookies (although she did make me gorgeous dolls clothes!) but she was compassionate, direct and practical. She had a carefully concealed romantic side and a strong desire for fairness and justice.
